A New Abstract / Mixed Media Painting!

I have been drawn more and more to abstract art this last year. I'm particularly enjoying combining the free-spirited shapes and colors with layered mixed media elements. This piece is a very intimate expression of my life poured out on the canvas. I really loved watching it evolve. I hope you like it too :)
"Life"
"From one generation to the next, the song of life is sung; a melody of love and laughter, faith and family, wishes and dreams... searching for a home to share the precious time we have together."

Beautiful Linda! I have to admit that all of my life until the last few years Ive not cared at all fro abstract art. funny that suddenly Im seeing it in a different light now. I think its due to the exposure that Ive gotten to it from the internet on blogs and flickr. I guess are tastes change through the years!
have a great week!

Hi Linda, I Love your abstract art.
Yours is really unique,I don't usally like abstract art. but I do REALLY like yours, I'd like to try it but would have no idea even where to begin,How did you start? Do you use oils?Or water colors? Thank you Sherrie

Thanks so much, my friends.

Viv, I never liked abstracts either. But yes... I agree. The exposure to so much art seems to open up interests. I really like the abstracts with focal points, and not so much just the "jumbled lines" type. But my ideas of what is beautiful have definately evolved these past few years!!!

Sherrie,
This particular piece is all acrylics... and some charcoal accents. I do use watercolors in my mixed media pieces as well. To begin this one, I collaged the surface with pretty papers. Then I added focal images. Then just painted, painted, scraped, splattered, rubbed, dripped, and painted some more. Basically, just "Played" as Mystele of Little Glimpses always says!

I have to confess... This was the first piece that felt like "home" for me. I think I'll be dabbling in abstracts a lot more.

There is a lot of inspiration in this piece and it looks very nice on the wall. How did you get the girl's face on the painting? Is that a stamp?

Hi Lisa! Thank you.

I'm assuming you mean the "lighter background" little girl face? That is one of my original sketches. I just included it in the overall piece.

I use my own work and occassionally, some public domain images in my pieces.

:)
