"Mermaid?", you ask.
"A mermaid", I say.
But what makes her a mermaid,
not a saint or a stray?
I haven't a clue. I see not a tail
Neither fins nor shells,
Nay a watery veil.
But somewhere within her
My little girls saw
... a mermaid.
And their mama said, "awww".
